We have improved the Alpha 2 that was released on June 26th. Thanks for your feedback. We are ready to launch the Alpha 2b tomorrow. If you have received a Jolicloud invitation or if you are already using Jolicloud, please update your system to get the latest improvements.
We also improved the Jolicloud homebase on the web:
Better search engine
We have now plugged a decent search engine so you should be able to find users and applications faster and more accurately.
Responsiveness improvements
This week we started working on the responsiveness of the Jolicloud web application. We are still in tweaking mode and you will experience a lot of small improvements in the coming weeks.
Simpler way to add your picture to your profile
We noticed that a lot of you did not add a picture to their profile. You can now use the picture of your Twitter or Facebook account.
It is a simple process: go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Profile’, then you have three options:
- Use Facebook connect to use your Facebook picture.
- Grab your avatar from your Twitter account.
- Simply enter a URL to use a picture you posted anywhere online.

We hope this new feature will encourage you to complete your profile. It’s much nicer to meet and follow other users when you can see their picture!
We also have added a bunch of new applications:
Deezer
From rock to hip-hop, jazz, electro and world music, Deezer lets you stream music and enjoy unlimited access to the catalogues of leading major and independent record companies.

Moovida
Moovida is much more than a simple media player. It is a media center bringing you the best of the internet. It catalogs your movies, TV shows, songs and pictures in an easy-to-use interface.

PopUrls®
PopUrls® is the mother of aggregators, a single page that encapsulates up-to-the-minute headlines from the most popular sites on the internet. The Popurls® dashboard brings you the latest web-buzz in one page.

Wolfram|Alpha
An innovative answer engine developed by Wolfram Research, Wolfram|Alpha draws on multiple curated data sources to answer factual queries rather than providing a list of documents or web pages that might contain the answer.

OMGPOP
Originally conceived as a place for people to play games to meet each other, OMGPOP has become the place where people meet each other to play games. Playing any of the Flash-based games only takes a couple of clicks, and they tend to suck you in!

And there is more… Popular email clients such as Yahoo Mail, Windows Live Hotmail and AOL Mail are now one click away from the Jolicloud launcher. We also added popular Web2.0 services such Google Maps, Last.fm, Pandora, LinkedIn, Dopplr, exclusive social networking site A Small World, tech stories aggregator Techmeme, social media aggregator Streamy and next gen media portal TheCrane.tv.
If you believe we should add other applications, let us know in the comments.
Enjoy!

Hey looks awsome as always, sure would love to get an invite
Please send me an invitation. I still wait for it
Une Petite invit’ ?? merci
It would be really nice if you guys could add support for Gravatar for the picture. http://gravatar.com
Gravatar is more universal in scope than Twitter and FB support, although I agree that those should be supported as well. With Gravatar, you could auto-populate quite a lot of people’s profile pictures, as you already have their email addresses (and that’s all you need).
What happened to the 1000 invites/day?
This is getting ridiculous. You’re obviously doing this to create some sort of momentum / publicity by only letting very few people see the thing.
What have you got to hide? is it open source or not?
I’m using Jolicloud Alpha “Robby” version on an HP-Mini-2133, on an older Compaq-Presario-2100.OUS, and on a 64 Bit high-end Acer.Aspire.8930G, and it works wonderfully!
I love the “looks” and functionality of Jolicloud. The programs are most useful. Needless to say, one also has the added bonus of the usual security, and stability offered by the Linux Kernel, etc.
Kudos to the Jolicloud Developers and users!
