New applications this week

by Jolicloud Team

July 24th, 2009

We have added some cool applications to our directory this week:

Newsmap
An application that visually reflects the constantly changing landscape of the Google News news aggregator. The enormous amount of information is divided into quickly recognizable bands, revealing underlying patterns in news reporting across cultures. We always beleived it looks good in a netbook, so here it is.

Newsmap

EyeOS
EyeOS is an open-source browser based web desktop for companies and schools. Its directory of default and customised applications help to manage resources and work collaboratively.

Etherpad
‘The most frictionless way to get people on the same page’, Etherpad is a web-based word processor build by former google employees that allows people to work together in (really) real-time.

Electronic Music Guide
This has been a long time classic for all electronic music lovers. The interactive map of all subgenres and beats. Just click listen and enjoy next time you open your netbook

Electronic Music Guide

Thinking Space
A slick experiential site by The Economist which offers to explore the ‘Thinking Space’ of various opinion leaders from around Europe. Check out their favorite websites, articles on The Economist and music playlists on Spotify.

Thinking Space

Gaza Sderot
A documentary project reporting on life as experienced by men, women and children in Gaza in Palestine, and Sderot in Israel: Users have a non-linear access to short chronicles that follow the day-to-day lives and survival of six characters in Gaza and six in Sderot.

And there’s more! We have also added some new games check Ikariam and Tribal Wars, Poulaga Challenge and JamLegend.

We are improving our essential application list with music services Jamendo, and Fizy, social networking sites Behance and Orkut, task management tool Remember The Milk (offline support included!), online presentation tool Empressr, graphics editor SumoPaint.

And by the way last time we forgot to announce that we included USA Today experimental Newsdeck, the award winning note taking tool Evernote, and travel organizer tool Tripit!

Enjoy!

Don’t forget you can try any of these “apps” just by clicking the links on this page. Jolicloud doesn’t change them at all, it just makes a nice bookmark for you.

when I suscribe to a new appli, is not easy to find it later in “my jolicloud”. Would be useful to have a “NEW APPLIS” option like Favorite, Internet…

No point posting all the new apps when the invites are not given out at all.

I have been told that Clickbank tries to make it tricky to get compensated through pressuring you to trade loads of varied things via completely different credit cards not to mention Paypal. I’d like to implement Clickbank sadly I am worried about this situation. Do you know if it is true?

I do agree with all the ideas you’ve presented in your post. They are really convincing and will certainly work. Still, the posts are very short for starters. Could you please extend them a bit from next time? Thanks for the post.

just saw yr thoughts at sify.com website today on the slumgog’ issue…its a shame sify didn’t permit me to put my comments on it (stating “Problem while updating your comment”….how convenient that I guess its a way to gag public opinion spclly those who may want to second with yr opinion, while happily allowng on other topics )….anyway I fully agree with you on the issue…for ages anglosaxon west had been stealing Indian ideas & making huge profit out of it (just check out the textile, art, to name a few) .This after they left the country divided on religious lines (& they conveniently continue to do this till date…just watch the brit minister blabbering on pak innocence on recent Mumbai attacks)
So its natural that they again steal Indian Hindu story-conveniently deprive of any recognition, forget prize, while any & all non-Hindu players reward themselves..its impossible to beleive that no Hindu slumdwellers exist in Mumbai …so this story has got nothing to do with Hindu Indian paying public & we must not bother to buy/pay for any such products/services where they steal from us but gives no credit…its true commercial films are hypocritically set aside or even run down with comments like “bollywood overthe top” while lavish praised on artsy movies…..I think its to put down or in place’ popular artists/stars like yourself (again a divide & rule poicy by certain politisensias )
..one needs to just go round the country & see the way people take Amitabh Bachchan or Aishwariya’s name/pics to promote their products & services (many times not paid a penny to you I’m sure) also how about the no. of times npapers like HT/TOI/telegraph run very mean snippets about you but never hesitate to use your pic whenever any general topic on bollywood is discussed….leaves the public baffled…anyway as long as we see these desh-seller Indians & their divide & rule benefactors we shall continue to see such anomalies as you wrote in sify

I have created a gaming website dedicated to online Java and Flash games. I enjoy programming on my own time and I put in around 30-60 hours a week. I am a plumber by day but hope and dream of one day doing game programming full time and supporting my family with it!

What superb article! I have no clue how you came up with this report..it’d take me weeks. Well worth it though, I’d assume. Have you considered selling ads on your website?
