New Jolicloud system update

August 10th, 2009 at 7:34 pm, by Jolicloud Team

Following the launch of Jolicloud Alpha 2c, we received a lot of feedback showing that most existing audio issues had been solved. For general improvement we also decided to upgrade to the latest stable kernel version (version 2.6.30.4 on kernel.org for our more tech audience).

All you need to do is update your system. Please have a look at this previous post if you are new to Jolicloud and want to know more about our automatic-update tool.

Here are the main improvements that come with this new system update:

Performance: Some users saw their system slow down after installing the Alpha 2c. The performance is now improved on all Atom N270 and Celeron processors netbooks (including Asus Eee PC 701, 900 and 1000HD). The system is also faster now on the Dell Mini and the HP Mini. Incidentally, the netbook launcher icon display bugs have also been fixed.

Sound: The issue with the microphone on the Dell Mini 9 is fixed, and the audio problems reported on all supported netbook models should now be solved. if it’s not the case, please let us know and make sure you specify what netbook model you use.

We hope you enjoy the Jolicloud Alpha 2c and the new kernel!

Sounds, I’d love to enjoy the new release, but I’ve been waiting for an invite for ages.

I upgraded everything … Bluetooth headset & Skype aren’t stable at all. Skype behaves strange (on Exit Skype keeps running in the background… I need to kill it -9). Sound works fine few a few seconds or minutes. Is it a driver sound issue or ?? All I wish is that Skype + bluetooth would work like a charm. ps: I’m on Eeepc 901.

Hi, Sound was working on my Acer Aspire One immediately after installing “Robby”, but after then installing the updates it identified (23 of them), sound now stops working - just get a crackle

My eee PC 901 started to have sound problems after the latest update. I can hear the sound, but it comes together with a very loud sound, similar to an old TV sound when not tuned to any channel.

Hope you guys can find a fix for that soon.

Thanks!

Same here. All i hear on mic recording is a hissing sound. Bluetooth headset (Sennheiser MM200) says connected but no bluetooth option under Sound setup. Skype audio only option is Pulse audio. All latest updates downloaded and installed.

Hey!!

I just wanted to get to you guys and say “WOW!!”
So far I have had Jolicloud for about a week and I love it… I understand that the OS is still in Beta, but I am running into some issues. The issues might stem from my computer it is an Asus eeepc 1000hd, but I somehow think they driver issues.

Issue #1
When I play audio (in any software) I get small audio hickups (small digital bursts of cutup audio) about every 3 mins. It very well could be my Ram, the reason I feel it is not, is because I am able to run vidoe without issue, it makes me think that there are some A/D or Internal Clock issues.

Issue #2
This one is great!! After using Ubuntu for the past year I have not been able to find a simple solution to my WIFI connection issues…you fixed it!! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!
…But the wifi card does not work 100% of the time it is picky on what routers it likes to shake hands with, I feel that the issue lies in older 64bit encryption routers.

I have searched all the forums and I have located some similar issues that people have been reporting but I am not sure if they are the exact problems that I am having. Anyway thank you for your time, and I will be following along with Jolicloud for a while I feel that its the FUTURE!!

Thanks again and much Love,
Tony
