Here are this week’s picks:
PearlTrees’ innovative interface lets you explore and remap the great content you find everyday on the internet. Every saved item is a ‘pearl’, and you can organize your pearls in ‘pearltrees’. The interface might remind you of a mindmapping tool, but the comparison is only visual. PearlTree’s impressive functionality lets you drag and drop pearls - or links to webpages - and connects them to your profile. Shared pearls connect you to others and allow you to view their collections. From there you can pick the bits you like to extend your own. You can email your pearls, embed them in your blog or broadcast them on Twitter or Facebook.

Click on a guide image to access ‘place pages’, which gather all the info posted by users on a specific place.

Previously a URL shortener, Br.st has launched a slew of new features and is now looking closer to popular social media reader Brizzly. But where Brizzly supports Facebook, Br.st concentrates on its URL shortener roots and ensures against malware through inline link, image, and video previews.

Sponty takes the hassle out of putting together casual social events. Instead of asking users to give their real-time location in the hope that their friends might join like in Foursquare or Brightkite, Sponty focuses on real-time ‘intentions’ and allows users to to tell people about opportunities to get together. Once you’ve added events to a schedule, your friends are notified via the Sponty community, Twitter, facebok, email or through a blog widget. Friends then click the ‘I’m down’ button their interest in joining you. Sponty currently supports US timezones only.

Happy Joliclouding!

Can’t wait for this release. Will be running it in a VM on my tablet PC (Kubuntu 9.10/HP TX2) as well as native on my wife’s AA0 751. Just found out about Jolicloud today while looking at ChromeOS, love them both, can’t wait to see who comes out on top. I have to say, Joli is looking good right now.
