Our selection this week:

Pip.io

Sometimes you want to post something funny on Facebook but you don’t because you are not sure who is going to see it. Hailed as a “Facebook with privacy done right” by Robert Scoble, Pip.io is a social networking site that lets you make your updates private or limited to some users. It is also a fully-featured Facebook and Twitter client and integrates video chats. Users have the option to invite people to virtual environments called ‘rooms’ to open group discussions. Others can subscribe to these collective interactions.

Pip.io

Due to popular demand, Dutch social networking site Hyves can now be found on the directory alongside ScienceFeed, a real-time microblogging platform for scientists, and career-oriented Naymz, which is competing with LinkedIn. Twiangulate is a site to find common or biggest followers for any two or three Twitter users.

SketchPad

SketchPad is a drawing application powered by HTML5 and JavaScript. It features drawing tools like shape, paintbucket or stamp, and lets you create styles by clicking on the “color”, “gradient”, or “pattern” tabs on the top bar. click on “light” for some extra fun.

SketchPad

We would like to thank Joliclouder Henry Gundy who recommended SketchPad to us, along with some very good HTML5 canvas examples. We have not added them all but you can check out a full list here. If you would like to suggest an app (we are giving priority to web apps these days), just send us a message.

Buzzzy

Buzzzy is a real-time search engine for Google Buzz. Buzz already has its own native search functionality, but Buzzzy is here to give you richer and more configurable results. Name notwithstanding, it actually indexes Buzz from items from Google Reader, Twitter, FriendFeed and, of course, Buzzz.

Buzzzy

Fav4 is a dead simple but attractive start page featuring four huge, gorgeous buttons for the websites of your choice. Zoho Notebook is like a scrapbook service to create, aggregate and collaborate on multiple types of content online. Password protected app WriteBoard lets you collaborate on shareable web-based documents, save every edit, and roll back to any version.

Antiquity.tv

Antiquity.tv is a slick art history video resource created by Jeremiah Palecek, a painter and drawing teacher based in the Czech Republic. The current library includes famous artists profiles and thematic documentaries that Palecek edited himself.

Antiquity.tv

Also new in the education category, Google Mars shows the most detailed scientific maps of Mars including a relief map, images taken by the Mars Orbiter Camera, and mosaic images takn by the Thermal Emission Imaging System.

Sleep.fm

Sleep.fm won’t help you sleep, but it can wake you up to your local weather report. The alarm is spoken by a computer-generated male’s voice, which you can switch to a woman’voice. The service automatically detects local time and weather conditions. It lets you set up to two personal alarms, and choose a type of alert, including weather forecast, or a voicing of the current time or date. Future plans include the ability to alert you if your plane, school, exam, meeting and event is canceled or delayed.

Sleep.fm

Fullscreen Weather is another utility app that will help you find the weather for any city, state, zip code, country, or Latitude/Longitude in the world.
Finally, we have added World of Solitaire, a fullscreen version of the game of Solitaire, and FreeCiv, an empire-building strategy game inspired by the history of human civilization.

Happy joliclouding!
