Jolicloud is looking for an experienced application software developer to enhance the Jolicloud installer and USB writer applications. The purpose of these applications is to enable Jolicloud users to quickly and easily install the Jolicloud OS on their netbook alongside any existing operating system. The first application permits writing the content of an ISO file onto a bootable USB media. The second application is an installer which follows the open source Wubi installer mechanisms to install the OS into a file container inside an existing operating system and automatically set up a selector to choose which OS to load at boot.

Responsibilities

• Implement new features aimed at enhancing the overall experience of the applications.
• Analyze and optimize the performance and reliability of the applications.
• Write code and test documentation.
• Plan and implement unit testing procedures.
• Debug hardware and software issues, reported by users.
• Assist support engineers to improve support documentation and procedures.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of Python and at least one of the following: Win32 development and/or GNU/Linux system administration.
• 3+ years experience in designing and coding desktop application software.
• Minimum 2 years experience contributing to free and/or open source projects and familiarity with Git.
• Practical experience with Ubuntu Desktop Linux distributions.
• BA/BS in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Solid analytical and problem solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and focus on quality.
• Ability to plan work, execute to plan and meet deadlines within a fast moving and changing environment.
• Fluency in written and spoken English. French a plus.
