Jolicloud is seeking a Backend Engineer to join the team responsible for the development and integration of the Jolicloud cloud services. This team develops and manages all cloud computing aspects of Jolicloud and works closely with both the product management and frontend engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop new features for the Jolicloud web applications.
• Enhance existing functionality and performance.
• Refactor existing Ruby on Rails code for long-term maintainability.
• Implement new APIs and services.
• Work with product management to plan and integrate partners services.
• Write code and documentation.
• Debug software issues.
• Assist support engineers to improve support documentation and procedures.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of Ruby and/or Python, as well as, RESTful API design.
• Working knowledge of SQL and/or non-SQL applied to large scale datasets and complex queries.
• Good understanding of server software such as Apache (including setting up reverse proxies and redirecting URLs), lighttpd and nginx.
• Previous work on large-scale web application deployments a plus.
• Minimum 3 years experience.
• BA/BS in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Solid analytical and problem solving abilities.
• Ability to plan work, execute to plan and meet deadlines within a fast moving and changing environment.
• High energy, motivation and strong team player skills.
• Fluency in written and spoken English. French a plus.
