Linux OS Developer

Jolicloud is looking for a Linux OS Developer with experience developing, packaging, and supporting applications in a Debian-based Linux environment. The position involves the development, implementation, and supporting of upstream software applications into the Jolicloud framework.
- Location: Europe, ideally Paris
- Status: Temporary/Full Time
Responsibilities
- Provide development support for original Jolicloud applications.
- Monitor and maintain the differences between Jolicloud-specific software versions, and upstream software vendor's new releases. Upstream software vendors include Debian and Ubuntu pre-packaged software releases, or original developers directly.
- Coordinate the release of Jolicloud-specific software customizations back to upstream software vendors, according to the GPL and other Open-Source licenses.
- Write code and test documentation.
- Debug hardware and software issues, reported by users.
- Assist support engineers to improve support documentation and procedures.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of at least one of the following: Python, C/C++.
- Working knowledge of Debian and/or Ubuntu based packaging.
- Minimum 2 years experience contributing to free and/or open source projects including a demonstrable experience in as many of the following as possible:
- Git or similar DCVS
- X.org, DRM/DRI/GLX, Mesa 3D, and vendor-specific video drivers
- Linux Kernel including modules, configuration, and installing
- Bash, Perl, or other interpretive languages
- ACPI, DBUS, and/or HAL
- ALSA, OSS, and/or PulseAudio
- Apache, MySQL, or similar server-side CGI
- and other Linux technologies
- BA/BS in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Solid analytical and problem solving abilities.
- Ability to plan work, execute to plan and meet deadlines within a fast moving and changing environment.
- Must be able to work autonomously.
- Fluency in written and spoken English. French a plus.
